37w and appointment update

Monday marked my official release from bedrest! WHOOT! I have been a nesting queen since then--let me tell you! I have more food in my freezer than I know what to do with--luckily it will be nice and easy and convenient for when baby is finally here.
So far my freezer stash looks like this:

8lbs of taco meat--in 2lb containers
2 large containers of chili
1 pan of Manicotti
10 Marinaded chicken breasts (in packages of 2, vacuum sealed)
4 "Plain" chicken breasts (for breading at a later time)
1 large container of Minestrone Soup
1 large round rump roast--cooked and frozen in gravy (Thanks Mom!!)
4lbs of pulled pork
4lb pork tenderloin--marinaded
1 meatloaf--uncooked
2lbs of browned gr. beef (probably to throw in spaghetti sauce at some point)
Cabbage rolls (those are still in the crockpot so I'm not sure how many containers I'll have)
Several containers of homemade spaghetti sauce

This of course doesn't include the two frozen whole roasting chickens I have in the freezer, along with another package of chicken breasts, and package of frozen chicken pieces, numerous roasts, steaks, and more frozen gr. beef...I think we're set on food :-)

So now onto my update....
I spent 3 hours in L&D Friday afternoon because I was having painful contractions that were every 5 minutes. My doctor met us up there and said she thought this was it--but my damn cervix was still only 1cm after 3 hours of monitoring, so she sent us home :( I was so disappointed that I actually cried. So Sunday night/Monday started operation eviction...and I started walking like crazy to try and get baby out. I have continued to have contractions pretty regularly since Friday, and they are getting stronger but nothing too exciting. At my appt yesterday she checked me and I was 2-2.5cm, 85%, 0-+1 so we're headed in the right direction. She said she anticipates a baby by the weekend....which is probably true because I start back to work Saturday night and I'm anticipating that 12 hours on my feet putting me in labor if I don't go before then!

How far along? 37 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: up 19lbs

Maternity clothes? Everything is getting small--I have 2 pairs of pants and like 3 shirts that I can wear.

Sleep: I have no energy but I can't sleep because I can't get comfortable!

Best moment this week: Getting the nursery DONE! Everything is put away and ready for baby!

Movement: All the time! I have feet in my right ribs, a butt between my ribs, and a shoulder in my left hip.

Food cravings: Salsa and Chips :-)

Gender: This kid is definitely a boy, I just know it--We'll see soon enough I guess :-)

Labor Signs: 2-2.5cm, 85%, +1

Belly Button in or out? Well the top half is out and the bottom half is in...quite sexy I must say

What I miss: Being able to move and do stuff with ease and comfort

What I am looking forward to: Getting this kid out :-)

Weekly Wisdom: Nesting will make you feel better--don't fight it, go with it

Milestones: 37w's, dilating further, and getting to go back to work :-)

36w and appt update

So I just got back from the Doctor's office...Still on bedrest!!! BOOOO! BUT she said everything is looking great. At this point, if I go into labor, she will not stop it. I'm not sure it was a good idea to tell me that though, because now I'm going to want to do more around the house because I know we're out of the "danger zone." I'm still 1cm which she said is ONLY because I'm on bedrest--she would have expected more if I was up and moving a lot. I'm now 80-85% effaced--which she said will allow me to dilate quicker and easier at this point. And the head is now at +1 which is pretty darn low...no wonder I'm peeing every 10 minutes! So all and all it was a great visit!

How far along? 36 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: up 17lbs

Maternity clothes? yep

Sleep: I just can't stay comfortable anymore...it stinks...and peeing every 2 hours is getting OLD

Best moment this week: Nursery is painted, carpets need 1 more steam clean and then we can move in furniture!!

Movement: It's funny how movement changes from hard kicks to just kind of a shifting movement...accompanied by punches to the bladder and cervix...

Food cravings: Lemonade and Watermelon and salsa and chips

Gender: This kid is definitely a boy, I just know it--We'll see soon enough I guess :-)

Labor Signs: 1cm, 80-85%, +1--won't be long now she says

Belly Button in or out? Well the top half is out and the bottom half is in...quite sexy I must say

What I miss: Bending over and being able to get out of bed easily

What I am looking forward to: giving birth :-) and going back to work

Weekly Wisdom: Enjoy these last few uncomfortable weeks of pregnancy...you'll miss it when it's gone

Milestones: Um...I don't know, I'm hungry, I need to eat lol

35 weeks and an appt

So I had my 35w appt yesterday and it went pretty well! I'd been up ALL night the night before having contractions but decided just to wait until my appointment instead of going to L&D. Luckily, there were no cervical changes to report--so that's a good thing. On another good note--my GBS swab was NEGATIVE!!!!! YAY! :-) This makes me very happy because I'm allergic to most of the antibiotics that are "safe" to take during pregnancy! On a slightly concerning note--my BP was slightly elevated so hopefully that will correct itself by next Wednesday's visit. Otherwise, all is well around these parts!
My daddy got the baby's room all painted last night :-) It looks fantastic! We have to wait for the paint smell to go away before we can start putting stuff in there...so maybe by this weekend! I will definitely post pictures once we get everything loaded in the room :-) EEK!

How far along? 35 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: gained my lb back...up 16lbs total

Maternity clothes? yep

Sleep: I just can't stay comfortable anymore...it stinks

Best moment this week: Getting the nursery painted; finding out I'm GBS-

Movement: It's funny how movement changes from hard kicks to just kind of a shifting movement...accompanied by punches to the bladder and cervix...

Food cravings: Lemonade and Watermelon

Gender: This kid is definitely a boy, I just know it--We'll see soon enough I guess :-)

Labor Signs: Been in preterm labor twice now and had 3 terbutiline shots to stop it. I'm dilated 1cm, 75%, and -1 to 0 station already...BR until 36w booo

Belly Button in or out? Well the top half is out and the bottom half is in...quite sexy I must say

What I miss: The freedom I had before I was on bedrest...I just want to clean clean clean, but I can't can't can't :(

What I am looking forward to: Getting the baby's room all set up--hopefully this weekend!

Weekly Wisdom: Do what the doctor says...

Milestones: 35/35...only 35 days til the due date--HOLY COW where did the time go?

Dr. Appt and 34w

So I had my Dr. Appt yesterday....and I just started to cry when she came in the room. I was so scared and relieved and just in a whirlwind of emotions. She assured me that if the baby was born RIGHT NOW he or she would be in the special care nursery for a week or two but it wouldn't be anything serious b/c I've already gotten then betamethasone shots for the lung development.
We talked at length about work and what I should do about my schedule and she assured me that I could go back 2 8hr shifts a week on non-consecutive days but no more than that. Luckily when I talked to my boss this morning, she said she'd rather me just take 2 weeks off and come back to work at 36w so we don't have to worry about delivering any babies in the ICU while I'm working! So it looks like bedrest and lots of water for the next two weeks...and then I'm allowed to resume all activities. Originally I was supposed to have my next appt at 36w but she decided yesterday that I need to start coming every week now...just incase. They are keeping a close eye on my cervix b/c the head is already so low. She said when most women come into the hospital in labor the head is barely at this point...kinda scary. So we're praying for an uneventful 2 weeks!

How far along? 34 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: lost 1lb...so a total of 15lbs gained so far

Maternity clothes? yep

Sleep: Stinks--I can't stay asleep for more than 2 hours and then I have to pee...

Best moment this week: Hearing the HB and knowing that so far everything is OK in there

Movement: All the time but very very low!

Food cravings: Still on a Lemonade kick...

Gender: This kid is definitely a boy, I just know it

Labor Signs: Been in preterm labor twice now and had 3 terbutiline shots to stop it. I'm dilated 1cm, 75%, and -1 to 0 station already...BR until 36w booo

Belly Button in or out? Well the top half is out and the bottom half is in...quite sexy I must say

What I miss: Being able to move comfortably

What I am looking forward to: Getting the nursery painted this weekend :-)

Weekly Wisdom: Drink lots of water :-)

Milestones: We got both doses of the lung development shots so if this baby comes sooner than 36w we should be all in the clear!

Baby Showers and More Pre-term labor...

Saturday afternoon was such a fun time with some amazing friends...After spending 5 hours in L&D being miserable and uncomfortable, I had the pleasure of celebrating our baby with all of my awesome co-workers at a FABULOUS baby shower! I, of course, could hardly keep my eyes open, but what a fun time we had! Of course the food was incredible and no one would let me get up or lift a finger....what awesome friends! And generous...of my gosh, the generosity! These people I work with are incredible. I love my LHS friends long time :-)

Sunday afternoon was my 3rd shower--full of good food, good family, and some awesome friends! Another wonderful afternoon to help celebrate the upcoming birth of our baby! I just can't get over how many people care about us and how many people love this baby already and he/she isn't even born yet. It is soo overwhelming! I still have a few essential items I need to get for baby Yost before he/she makes his/her appearance, but otherwise we are all set. :-) Of course everything needs to be washed and folded and put away and sorted through...but that's going to take some time! I'm anxious to get it done though b/c this kid seems to be on his/her own time frame!

And more preterm labor....last night I started having more and more painful contractions again so I called my friend Laura who is an L&D nurse and she insisted I take yet another trip up to the hospital. So we did...We didn't get there until around midnight and got home around 3am. It only took 1 dose of terbutiline this time and there were no cervical changes so we got to come home! That's good news for sure! I'm anxious for my appt tomorrow with my doctor...She's so great and I just want to speak to her about all this. The other doctors in the practice have all been wonderful, but I just need Dr. Boes lol!

Well, I've been up already today more than I should be--some of my cool co-workers stopped over to visit and bring baby some gifts :-)--so I'm going to head back to my bed and snuggle up in the covers and watch bad TV! I'm so sleepy today...these late night hours are killing me!
